10 things I Would Like to be Different in 2011

1. I want to spend more quality time with God. I want to delight in Him.
(Delight: love set on fire)

2. I want to exercise because I want to, not because I don't measure up in societies view of me, but because it makes me feel good!

3. I want to keep looking for and sharing inspiration.

4. I want to be an intentional friend.

5. I want to apply Geneen Roth's advice about how I eat, really.

Week One – Be Astonished, Eat When You Are Hungry

Week Two – Living As If, Eat Sitting Down In a Calm Environment

Week Three – Developing Curiosity, Eat Without Distractions

Week Four – Notice What You Are Loyal To, Eat What Your Body Wants

Week Five – Loveliness, Stop When You Have Had Enough
6.  I want to write more about what I am learning.

7. I want to enjoy moments more, take them in, love the life I am living.

8. Try at least 3 things that I have never done before.

source
9. Stop looking for why who I am is unacceptable and start looking for why I am here and live that out.

10. Love wholly and as much as possible, unconditionally my family.
Trying not to be soooo serious.
source
I have never been quite so excited about a new beginning as I am this year. Don't know why, but I like the possibilities!

Did someone say IRON ON home design?

I love my home to look like me, weird. Just kidding, not too weird. But you always hear that whatever design and colors you tend to wear is a great place to start for your home as well. Not everyone follows that rule, but as much as I love zebra or leopard print, I don't wear it so I probably won't put it in my home. I tend to dress classy casual, if that is a style? I like to accessorize, so this is most likely what my home will represent.

Obviously I dream of the day when perhaps I will have a house where I can have storage to put all my great future thrift store furniture finds, and start room by room to transform it into a home design dream world (of course). But for today, I love to find things that can bring a bit of my style into my apartment for cheap. I also love when you can personalize it, or design things yourself. So when I came across this article in Family Circle I was inspired!!
Think of all the possibilities!

Lamps

Pillows

Storage

Chair Covers
Here's How: Choose a large-scale floral fabric (or use remnants of what you already have). Following directions on the packaging, apply iron-on adhesive sheets to the back of fabric. Cut out favorite design elements (e.g., a big blossom, small leaf) and arrange pieces on chair or slipcover until you find a design you like. Peel paper backing from each piece and iron directly onto chair or slipcover.
(For more how-to's see the Family Circle webiste)

This is an easy way to not only get your house looking great, it is also a way to express your own personal design, creative eye, and I don't know about you...but I often times know the material pattern, colors, style I am going for in my "design minds eye" and yet I can not find that thing anywhere! Here you can go pick your very own material, trace out the pattern you want, and iron it on! Amazing.

What would you do? I am thinking, next nursery ideas!

About Me

Eisy Morgan was born out of a desire in me to go on a journey to find out what it was I loved, what I enjoy in life and what inspires me. There are so many sides to a woman and so many things we enjoy and are inspired by it couldn't possibly be limited to one topic. So this is a constantly evolving project to put down my inspiration and be inspired.

I am Ashley and I am a wife, mother of a toddler, a follower of my Jesus and I am interested in many facets of life. I love being creative, challenging myself, reading, writing, knowing people, REALLY knowing people, LAUGHING, being with people who get me, theatre, music, dancing, life, love and understanding.

Be Inspired by the Every Day: Most Satisfying Simple Pleasures

Want to have a heart smiling moment?? I highly suggest reading through this list. I can  guarantee reflecting on these simple pleasures will make you remember these moments in your own life and remember the love of it all. I am a big fan of the website Thoughtquestions.com, which is a place where people submit thought provoking questions that we should all ask ourselves. The blog connected to the site is www.marcandangel.com wher they also write great, inspiring, thought provokers and lists. I came across this one by them and thought I would share it as it inspired me so much! These are the simple things in life that we do enjoy but take for granted remember them and Enjoy!!

30 Most Satisfying Simple Pleasures of Life
  1. Sleeping In on a Rainy Day – As the rain beats lightly against the window, you nestle your head deeper into your pillow.  The sound is soothing and your bed feels like a sanctuary.  There is no place you would rather be.
  2. Finding Money You Didn’t Know You Had – You reach into your pocket and find a $20 bill from the last time you wore these jeans.  You aren’t rich, but you are richer than you were a second earlier.
  3. Making Brief Eye Contact with Someone of the Opposite Sex – You pass her on the street or in the subway.  She glances up at you momentarily, making direct eye contact in a way that seems to communicate a subtle curiosity.  For a split second it makes you think… and then it’s gone.
  4. Skinny Dipping – There is something mysteriously liberating about being naked in a body of water.  You are naked, but it feels natural, a sense of unrefined freedom.
  5. Receiving a Real Letter or Package via Snail Mail – E-mail has become the primary source of written communication.  Most snail mail these days is junk mail.  When you check the mail and find a real letter or package from someone you know, excitement overtakes you as you tear into this rare gift.
  6. Making the Yellow Light - It’s one of the most common simple pleasures, the act of beating the pack.  As you blaze through the yellow light you glance in your rear view to see all the cars behind you stopping at the red light.  Yes!  You made it!
  7. Telling a Funny or Interesting, True Story - One of the most enticing roles you lead in life is that of the storyteller.  You love to share stories, especially those that will captivate your audience with deep curiosity and humor.  There are few things more satisfying than telling a true story that others enjoy listening to.
  8. Seeing a Friend Stumble Over Himself – As you walk across the street with your friend, he fails to accurately address the curb on the other side.  He trips and stumbles around momentarily before regaining his footing, then swiftly attempts to play it off like nothing happened.  This can be a hilarious sight if the moment is right.
  9. Hearing the Right Song at the Right Moment - It doesn’t matter what the setting is, hearing the right song for that moment is one of those simple pleasures in life that instantly lifts your spirits. You could be driving home from work, hanging out at a bar with friends, or jogging. When the right song rattles your ear drums the entire meaning of life seems crystal clear.
  10. The First Sip of a Beverage When You’re Thirsty – You just finished mowing the lawn or taking a long jog.  The only thing on your mind is an ice-cold glass of water.  When you are really, really thirsty, that first sip of any liquid beverage is sheer bliss.
  11. Thunder Storms - there is nothing quite like the awe of thunder and lightening and the way people stop and pay attention to more than their lives at that moment.
  12. Saying the Same Thing Simultaneously – There is a moment of silence.  Then all of the sudden you and your friend blurt out the same exact set of words simultaneously.  This rare occurrence is something to smile about.
  13. The Pull-Through Parking Spot – You pull into a parking spot and are delighted to see the availability of the parking spot immediately in front of you.  You pull through to the spot in front so that when you return to the car you can drive forward out of the parking spot.  Why?  Because driving backwards is a pain in the butt.
  14. Realizing You Have More Time to Sleep – Something abruptly awakens you and you think it’s time to get up.  Then you squint over at your alarm clock and realize you still have 2 more hours to sleep.  A warm euphoric feeling shoots though your body as you glide gracefully back to your dreams.
  15. People Watching – Sitting there on your bench you can see people in every direction.  Tall people, small people, thin and plump.  Blond, brunette, and redhead alike.  Each of them has a different stride and a unique expression.  As you drift from body to body you are mesmerized by what you see.
  16. Putting On Clothes Straight from the Dryer – As soon as the dryer buzzes, you pull out your clothes and put them on.  They feel soothingly warm on your skin and emit a fresh-scented aroma into the air.  A sentiment of ease comes over you as you head out to conquer the day.
  17. A Familiar Smell – You just pulled into your parent’s driveway and opened the car door.  You haven’t been home in a long while.  You smell familiarity in the air, the scent of a large pine tree in the neighbor’s yard.  As you head through the front door, more familiar smells consume your senses.  Gosh, it feels good to be home…
  18. The Feeling You Get When Your Idea Works – You have been struggling to resolve a complex problem all day and you just can’t seem to get it right.  Filled with frustration, you decide to exercise one last idea before calling it a night.  You’ve had many ideas before that failed miserably… but this time it works.
  19. Fresh, Clean Bed Sheets – You yank at the corner of the bedspread to create just enough space to slide your body under the freshly cleaned sheets.  The sheets feel cool to the touch.  Everything seems so clean, like nobody has ever slept in this bed before.
  20. A Beautiful View – As the car veers around the side of the mountain you gaze out the passenger window.  It’s a clear, sunny day and you can see the entire valley below filled with wild flowers and bright green vegetation.  The scenery reminds you of something you once saw in National Geographic.  But here it is live, right before your eyes.
  21. Reminiscing About Old Times with Your Closest Friends – Pink Floyd once said “the memories of a man in his old age are the deeds of a man in his prime”.  There is no simple pleasure more satisfying than recounting the greatest moments of your life with your closest friends who lived these moments alongside you.
  22. Receiving an Unexpected Compliment – It’s been an average day.  Nothing really great has happened, but nothing terrible occurred either.  This monotonous day has put you in a dreary mood.  Unexpectedly, an older, attractive lady taps you on the shoulder, calls you “handsome” and says she loves your shirt.  The day just got a whole lot better.
  23. Having a Good Laugh – Laughter is the greatest cure of all.  Life is extraordinary in the moments when you are laughing so hard you can barely breathe.  These moments of deep laughter are divine in the sense that they cleanse your mood and set your mind on a positive track.
  24. The Feeling After a Healthy Workout - It’s a giddy feeling of self accomplishment; the one true activity that actually makes you feel better and look better simultaneously. When you walk out the front door of the gym you are on top of the world.
  25. The Celebration in the Instant Something Makes Sense – Even now that it has explained to you for the third time, you just don’t understand how it works.  Everyone else seems to understand but you.  Then out of the blue the dots connect in your mind.  You finally get it, and it feels great!
  26. Relaxing Outdoors on a Sunny Day – As you relax sprawled out in a lawn chair, the sun warms your skin and a light breeze keeps the temperature comfortable.  Birds are chirping merrily in the trees behind you.  You are at complete peace with the environment.
  27. Holding Hands with Someone You Love – Every time she grabs your hand you are overcome with an awareness of how much she means to you.  Holding hands is sensual and physically intimate, yet subtle.  There are few people you allow to hold your hand, so when it happens you can be sure that the moment is special.
  28. Playing in the Water – Water marvels people of all ages.  From jumping in puddles as a child, to doing cannon balls in the pool as an adolescent, to enjoying a cocktail in the Jacuzzi as an adult… water is enjoyable.
  29. Making Someone Smile – You notice that your colleague has been under a great deal of stress with meeting a deadline, so you take it upon yourself to complete one of her indirect responsibilities for her.   As soon as she realizes what you did, she comes into your office with a big smile on her face.  “Thank you”, she says.  You just hit two birds with one stone, because making her smile just made your day.
  30. Finishing What You Started – You just finished up a big project you’ve been working on for the last few months, or maybe you just finished your first marathon… Either way, you finalized what you set out to accomplish.  The feeling of self accomplishment you get when you finish what you started is by far one of the most rewarding simple pleasures life has to offer.

An Inspiring Running Quote

“If you run, you are a runner. It doesn't matter how fast or how far. It doesn't matter if today is your first day or if you've been running for twenty years. There is no test to pass, no license to earn, no membership card to get. You just run.”

My marathon training update

1st month of training for the marathon is over. I think I am a little behind schedule but I hope to catch up. Any advice welcomed!

Loving a GREAT deal!

I don't know about you, but I am cheap when it comes to some things. I would much rather have several things for my money, rather than just one, especially when it comes to clothing that I wear on an every day basis. So when I have come across some of these amazingly affordable online boutiques I was thrilled. Sometimes if you pay 30 dollars for a top in your average "girly shop", you well know isn't worth that much! So why pay that much? Take this outfit for example

For all four of these pieces the total would be $60! I think that is a steal. Already have a purse, or jeans, you are now down to $30. Also with pieces like blazers they are so interchangeable you can use them for many outfits.

So this is why I share with you my latest findings of great online shopping. These were found at 15dollarstore.com where everything is literally 15 dollars! Sure not every piece is a winner, but neither are any of the shops we frequent in our malls!

I will try and get a link list of great cheaper online shops that I have come across to put in my sidebar. Please share with me if you know of any others and share what outfits or pieces you are looking for to add to your wardrobe! Here is the list I have so far...welcome to the cheap "Windows" shopping! ha ha ha (I crack myself up)

So, why not run?

I never considered running in my life. Why I started was because I wanted something that I could do cheaply, and I was getting bored with my work out videos in the house. I started in a good month, May, so it was easy to get outside and nice to run in the warm weather.
When I started trying to push myself further, the only thought in my mind was that I wanted to do something that I believed would be rather impossible. The more I pushed, the more surprised I was that I could actually do it. It is surprising how quickly your body adjusts and I believe anyone can be a runner. Most of all I wanted to find something that challenged me as well as I could measure (quite literally) and that I enjoy. It's not just about "getting skinny". It's about doing something with your body and pushing it and enjoying the fact that you can run! Sometimes we just have to change our outlook on these things.
Now granted, I would not consider myself a pro or seasoned in this at all. I have taken some time off running with the change of weather and that combined with the change in the altitude has slowed down my progress greatly! I have been back in training for three weeks now, but last week, all excuses aside, I only got two days in! Ouch. It makes such a big difference. So back in the saddle we go.
I came across this article in my Runners World about how "Survive Pitfalls if you are just starting out, or returning" with a sub article called
"Tap Your Inner Runner". Here is what Dr. Udewitz has to say about winning the mental battle, so many battles are lost in the mind before we ever even enter the battle!

So why not run, join me in accomplishing the seemingly impossible. You can!

Tap Your Inner Runner
Rob Udewitz, Ph.D., on winning the mental battle to hit the road.

FOCUS ON TIME, NOT DISTANCE
Thinking in terms of mileage may seem overwhelming. Instead, commit to a set number of minutes. Time goals allow you just to be out there, without the pressure of feeling like you have to cover a specific distance.

THINK AHEAD
When running is the last thing you want to do, remember how good you feel afterward. That memory alone can get you out the door.

REWARD YOURSELF
On Monday, promise yourself a treat that weekend for accomplishing your week's running goals. Ice cream tastes better when it's earned.
(note from me: I wouldn't reward yourself with food if you are dealing with eating and overeating i.e. weight: what else do you love? a new running shirt, a bath, a massage, a pedicure, a new book or magazine? think outside the box)

LISTEN TO NEGATIVE FEELINGS
Rather than trying to block out discomfort and negative thoughts, recognize them and try to find a solution. Focusing on what you're feeling can help you find a productive way to alleviate it—whether it's changing your form or taking a walk break.

SET GOALS THE NIGHT BEFORE
Not all goals need to be big or long-term. Think about what you want to achieve on tomorrow's run. Seal the commitment by writing down how long you'd like to go.

FEEL BETTER: Resist the urge to try and run faster than you did yesterday. Speed gains don't happen overnight. To help you avoid this problem, run without a watch.

Style is in the Attitude

Sometimes when we get "older" and are having babies we forget that we are still women for a second and that many of us really love style, beauty, and feeling our absolute best! For every woman that looks a little different. I also know that some women out there are afraid of their inner fashionista. There are many of us out there that may see a style and are drawn to it and yet are afraid that it is "too much" for us.
I say, style is all in the attitude. If you want to try a style, branch out and try it. Venture into knowing yourself well enough to know that some things ring your style bell and some turn you off completely and then follow the bells. If you are wanting to try that look that you have seen your friend rocking, or on a magazine cover, go for it. Before you know it, instead of feeling stupid, you will feel like you own it and it will show.
Style is all in the attitude. I am going to have a section here on EisyMorgan that are the style inspirations for me and link them for you. Follow the bells, take a chance on a new style, or a new update. Follow your beauty and I will attempt to get you there as cheaply as possible! There are always cheaper versions to be found. Or think of things that you already own and how you can restyle it for a whole new look...
Be Inspired and Share the Inspiration!

My latest find is Ruche at www.Shopruche.com also their blog is linked in my "Inspiration" links! I originally heard of them through another friends blog GreyLikesWeddings!
They have the cutest line at a way affordable price. You can see this collection "Step Out in Cozy Layers" in its original post here! My biggest inspiration through their clothing line is the boots and socks as well as leg warmers. I think they are so cute, so they are on the "to find cheap" short list of things to do, most likely from Ruche themselves!

How to make a simple stylish circle scarf

This is such a simple gift idea for the man in your life. Circle scarves are very "in" right now so it would have to be someone who is not afraid to rock the latest style. But for the fashion forward men in your life this is sure to be a winner!

The Inspiration Wall

So this is my inspiration wall, also known as my closet door.

My goal, as I have said, is to run a whole marathon May 1st. The OC Marathon to be exact. My birthday is April 29th and that is the day that I turn 30! I want to celebrate leaving my 20's and entering my 30's with something that seems highly improbable!

This is a bunch of things I have cut out from magazines along with my training schedule...

I got this scedule from runners.com and have just finished my second week. The funny thing is that the OC training program started the same week, unbeknown to me..how cool!

I like this wall because it reminds me what I am capable of when I do not believe it myself. Sometimes you have to challenge yourself and then believe it is possible. One day at a time.

And let me tell you there is nothing like a little snippit of "Drop it like it's hot" by Snoop (judge if you must) after a hard run, try it sometime. Use it as a cool down after you have pushed yourself like never before.Sometimes you need a little, OH Heyooo Ya moment.

Try an inspiration wall for your personal goals, something you can look at daily that you are alive, so LIVE!

The first for the rest...

Here I am, starting a blog with absolutely no clue what I am doing. All that I know is that I am passion about beauty, life, being a wife, a mother, a follower of Christ and how that applies to every aspect of my life. I cannot pinpoint one aspect that this blog will be about because I am not one faceted and neither are any of you. Like a diamond has many sides, so are we, and some sides are chipped and imperfect, and these are the places I call most beautiful. This is a place where you will be able to find inspiration and thoughts for your make-up, your wardrobe, your body, your home, your kitchen, your children and how to work all these things out on a budget.

I want to create, and share creations. Share my story and life and hope to learn of others as well.

Here is to the first of the rest on a long journey...
